Jonnie Goodwin

Global Head of the Media Investment Banking Group at Jefferies

Prior to joining Jefferies in 2007, Goodwin was CEO & Co-Founder of LongAcre Partners where he helped build the company into Europe's leading mid-market media corporate finance house. LongAcre successfully completed over $15bn of transactions prior to its sale to Jefferies. Key transactions included the £210m sale of Uswitch to E.W.Scripps, the £175m sale of Friends Reunited to ITV plc, the sale of the worldwide rights of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? (Celador) to 2 Waytraffic for an initial consideration of £106m and the sale of Trader Classified Media's businesses worldwide for €1.6bn. Previously, Goodwin focused on the media sector at Apax Partners and later joined the MBI team of Talk Radio, backed by News Corporation and Liberty Media. Talk Radio was the foundation of The Wireless Group plc, where Goodwin became Group Managing Director.

 

Brent Hoberman

Chairman of mydeco.com, the UK's leading interior design website and was previously co-founder and CEO of lastminute.com, which he founded with Martha Lane-Fox in 1998

When Hoberman floated the business in March 2000 the demand for shares was so great that the IPO was 40 times over-subscribed. lastminute.com acquired 14 businesses after the IPO in order to supplement the growth of the business which averaged over 100% annually between 1998 & 2004. In 2005 Hoberman sold lastminute.com to Sabre for $1.1bn. Hoberman is Governor of the University of the Arts College, London and a non-executive board director of Guardian Media Group. From January 2007 he took on the role of Non-Executive Chairman of Wayn.com, the travel and leisure social network with over 14.5 million members. Hoberman is also an angel investor in several internet companies including Viagogo and moveme.com.

 

Andrew Huntley

Non-executive director of Liberty International and Miller Group. Former Chairman of Richard Ellis and non-executive Director of Pillar Property plc

Huntley is one of the UK's most experienced property advisers. After qualifying in 1958, Andrew joined Richard Ellis in 1965 where he rose through the ranks, becoming a partner in 1968. He was made Head of Investment Department in 1972, created Richard Ellis Inc USA in 1975 and set up Richard Ellis Financial Services in 1984. In 1985 he moved to head up the City Division of Richard Ellis before returning to the West End in 1992 and becoming Chairman in 1993 a position, which he held until 2001. Between 2002 and 2005 he was a non-executive director of Pillar Property plc. During his extensive career, he has also served as Deputy Chairman of Beckwith Property Fund Management, as a Driector of OIL Property Holdings, a Director of Atlantic Fund Management, a member of the board of The Charities Official Investment Fund (COIF) and Chairman of New Sadlers Wells Development. He presently serves as Chairman of Panceltica Holdings Ltd and is a non-executive director of The Miller Group.

 

Pippa Malmgren

Former adviser to the White House on financial markets and President of the Canonbury Group

Malmgren advises leading global policy-makers, heads of government and the boards of central banks on how political and policy decisions influence financial markets. Previously she served as an advisor on international economic issues to George W Bush. She worked at the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy on the National Economic Council where she was a member of the President's Working Group on Financial Markets and the President's Working Group on Corporate Governance. Prior to founding the Canonbury Group, Malmgren was the Deputy Head of Global Investment Strategy at UBS Warburg in London. She was previously the Chief Currency Strategist at Bankers Trust Company and also headed the Global Asset Management business in Asia. Prior to her career in investment banking, she was a trade policy specialist with the Trade Policy Research Centre in London and the OECD in Paris.
